The Union of Labourer Women (EKB) organized a protest in front of the US embassy in Ankara on 22nd August in order to show support to Cindy Sheehan, a mother who lost her soldier son in the occupation in Iraq and started to camp outside US president Bush's ranch in Crawford.

The EKB opened placards such as "Murderer USA - get lost from Incirlik" and "Cindy Sheehan's voice is our voice" and read a press release in front of the embassy. In the press release it said: "We as a women's anti-war-organization feel the pain of Cindy Sheehan, a mother who lost her soldier son, in our hearts. We send her our voice against the occupation of Iraq. Cindy Sheehan asks for reckoning for her dead son. Sheehan's justified voice is getting support every day, but her shouting is not heard by the murderer Bush and his gang. We as EKB don't want to support this bloody war."

The communist women denounced that they will support the march from Istanbul to Incirlik between 26 and 28 August and that they will greet the demonstrators with Cindy's believe.

The women finished their protest by shouting slogans such as "Close down Incirlik military base", "Cindy Sheehan's voice is also our voice", "USA, get lost from the Middle East" and "Long live the solidarity among women".

Izmir EKB also had a pres release and send solidarity cards to Cindy Sheehan.

Cindy Sheehan who is among the members of the foundation of the anti-war-organization "Gold Star Families for Peace" which is an organization for people who lost their relatives in the Iraq war has become a remarkable representative for the US anti-war-movement. Anti-occupation-thoughts have risen in the USA. As surveys show, around 60% of the US population are against the occupation. US-Organisations against the occupation are also merging. Bush and his gang, who have been stuck in Iraq's quagmire for the last three years, must have felt the necessity to play another show when they paid attention to Tammy Pruett, another mother of a soldier son and try to popularize warmongering.

Cindy Sheehan's protest is a honourable stance against imperialist occupation and aggression and against the fact that children of labourer families are used as a means in these unjustified wars. Now we have the historical and political duty to strengthen the support and solidarity activities with Cindy Sheehan.
