After the court's ruling, rewarding the murderers of the 301 mine workers, who were massacred in Soma in 2014, the families started their march for justice. Families announced that on the 16th of July, they will gather in front of the Council of Judges and Prosecutors (HSK) in Ankara. The route includes cities of Çanakkale, İstanbul, Kocael and Zonguldak where the families will carry out justice meetings in each cities before getting to Ankara. On behalf of the familes, Gülsüm Çolak, who lost his son in the massacre, made a statement about their march saying that "We'll bring justice on the surface":
" We want justice, we march for our children. Justice seems to be only for the rich, this is what we understood yesterday once again. The murderers of our children received 18-20 years. We lost 301 people, which means that the sentence does not reach even 2 months for each mine workers. In this order, where the bosses are protected and tyrants are rewarded, we are marching to search for justice, to meet with other mothers seeking justice! We know that our children will not come back. But we're marching this path in the expectation that no mother shall cry anymore. Today, before starting our march, we brought a piece of a coal together with us; to say that the price has been paid. We'll take soil from our children, to make them not forgotten. Throughout our march, we'll meet with those who are seeking justice ... Our search for justice will not end. We've buried our sons to the ground. But we'll bring justice to the surface."
