On the first anniversary of his martyrdom, Hüseyin Akçiçek (Alişer Deniz), the commander of the MLKP / FESK Rural Guerilla Units, is commemorated with a military ceremony held in the brigade having his name, the Şehit Alişer Deniz Brigade in Rojava. Along with the MLKP and MLKP/KKÖ (Communist Women Organisation) fighters, many inhabitants of Serêkaniyê participated to the ceremony.

The commander of the Şehit Alişer Deniz Brigade, Alişer Serêkaniyê, made a speech in the ceremony emphasizing Hüseyin Akçiçek's impact on the fighters of Rojava: "We met with comrade Alişer Deniz as he arrived to Rojava. With his disciplined and struggling character, he had been a model for us. With the Alişer Deniz Brigade that we established, we grow his revolutionary struggle and try to be worthy of him. (...) Comrade Alişer marched to immortality as a fighter of the spirit of sacrifice being manifested by MLKP's line wihin the revolutionary fight against fascist Turkish army. While commemorating him today in the Brigade took his name, we promise to be loyal his struggle."

On the ceremony, Baran Serhad, one of the commanders of MLKP Rojava, made a speech as well:

"One year ago, the MLKP and HPG guerillas, comrade Alişer and Oğuz Aksu, martyred in a clash against the fascist Turkish state where they fought until their last bullets. MLKP fighters give their life to the enemy but they never surrender. Just as other comrades of us, comrade Alişer did not surrender to the enemy and fought until he got martyred.

Alişer Deniz was from Dersim. His family had to migrate to Istanbul due to the state oppression and cruelty over Dersim. He had been a worker since from his childhood. Among the leather workers, he was a leader worker giving the struggle of defending their rights. But he realized the fact that a worker is nothing without being organized. No matter how many they are, if the workers are not organized then they stand weak and miserable against the capital and the bosses. Şehid Alişer saw this truth and he joined to the troops of MLKP. He then became an organized and strong worker; he did act with this consciousness. Just as him, MLKP Central Comitee member Süleyman Yeter, MLKP Red Platoons commander Ali Haydar Göçer, the martyr of the death fast Hüseyin Kayacı and the Dersim guerrilla Veli Görgün, all of these heroic martyrs were the workers organized in the MLKP troops, leading the peoples and the working class. Just as of all of our martyrs, the life of Alişer Deniz became a model for the workers, peasants and the oppressed. They are all our pathfinders. We must keep on learning from them.

A person without a thought is defenseless and weak. Weak people are controlled by others quite easily. That's why states and the capitalist system are tying with all means and methods to make our peoples deprived of values. However, our martyrs are defending our peoples as a shield, as a mountain. They are our highest values and every day they raise our values higher. Loyalty to the martyrs strengthens people in every aspects. We should never take ourselves away from this power.

The name of this brigade is Alişer Deniz; many battalions and fighters belonging this brigade take the names of our martyrs. You are holding both the names and the weapons of the martyrs. This brings each of you a responsibility. Everyone should consider being worthy of the blessed names of the martyrs as a question of honor and should act with respect to this fact.

Alişer Deniz has a great labor for these lands. He ran to be a responf for the call of his comrades during the war of Serêkaniyê; he fought here together with them and got wounded. Comrade Alişer had never stepped back. He undertook every duty of revolution faihfully. During the war of Kobane, he carried weapons and logistic for Kobane's scream. He undertook many important responsibilities during the establishment of Şehid Serkan Battalion. We are all honored and happy to be the comrades of Alişer.

In order to protect our revolution, honor and future, let's organize and take side with the military and social establishments, with the MLKP's troops. Let's rise the loyalty to the martyrs in order to defend the revolution in a true meaning."
