A crisis came out of the ballot-boxes in Turkey. The early general election, which were anticipated in order to reach political stabilization and political trust, also brought elements of a new crisis and instability. Of the regime parties, only the Islamic party, AKP (Party of Justice and Development), and the "social-liberal" CHP (Republic Peoples Party), were able to pass the ten-percent-clause on November 3, 2002. The other 16 political parties who participated in the elections could not pass the ten-percent-clause.

AKP collected 34.5% of the valid votes and sent 363 members to the parliament, and the CHP sent 178 members by 19.5% proportion of the votes.

The traditional regime parties of imperialism and collaborationist monopoly bourgeoisie have experienced total bankruptcy and collapse. They have almost suffocated under the ten-percent-clause and by their self-made election law.

The parties of the trinity coalition government, who was ruling Turkey for three years, have caught to the ten-percent-clause. One of the governing parties, the MHP (National Movement Party) is an racist, fascist and chauvinist party. It has collected 17.98% ratio of the votes and became a partner of the government by provoking the Turkish chauvinism and nationalism against the Kurdish National Movement in the process of the 1999 elections. Its share of the vote has reduced to 8.5% in the 3rd November 2002 elections.

Since 1970`s, the MHP has played the role of an aggressive paramilitary force of the fascist dictatorship that is used against revolutionary mass movement, fight for revolution and socialism in Turkey and Northern Kurdistan. They have killed thousands of revolutionaries. The members of this party took part in all malpractices, bribes etc. and in all mafia and gang groups. Recently, the false "nationalism" of MHP has came into sight by its submit to the enforcements of USA, EU and IMF.

The party of last three years` prime minister BFClent Ecevit, the DSP (Democratic Left Party) has experienced an utter defeat in the last elections. The DSP, which has split into two before the elections, received an heavy defeat. The DSP is a left nationalist party. The capture of Abdullah D6calan, General president of PKK , by an imperialist plot and use of leftist version of the Turkish nationalism and chauvinism has played an important role in its 22.17% of votes, which made it first party in 1999 elections. On the 3rd November elections, it received 1.3% of the votes and has disappeared from the political arena.

The other member party of the former government, which is EU sided and made propaganda on Turkey's entrance to EU, ANAP (Fatherland Party) and its General President Mesut Yilmaz has also experienced an utter defeat in the elections. This party is also known by malpractices in banks and courts. Its 13.2% share of vote in 1999 have reduced to 5.1%.

Exhaustion of the parties, who formed the trinity coalition, is also seen in the reduce of the total voting proportions. In 1999, the total voting proportions of these parties were 53.3%, but in the 3rd November 2002 elections their total voting proportions have reduced to 15%.

The other fascist party, who was in the opposition in the parliament, The DYP (True Path Party) has also received an heavy defeat. The DYP, who was one of the parties of the "war government" that conducted a dirty and bloody war against the Kurdish National Movement and anti-fascist peoples movement in 1993, has also caught to the ten-percent-clause. Its share of the vote has stayed at 9.5% in the last elections, they could not enter into the parliament.

The government of the DYP and its General President T. Ciller has provoked the Turkish nationalism against Greece and drove Turkish and Greek people to the level of war by hoisting a flag on one of the small islands in the Aegean Sea and by "propaganda of pebbles". Tansu Ciller did not abstain to state that she wants to be the prime minister during USA's occupation of Iraq in her election propaganda.

The DYP has declared "the Susurluk gangs", which are formed by the collaboration of capital-military-politics and killed thousands of people by counter-guerilla attacks on revolutionary and Kurdish patriots, as heroes and gave bribes. It has invited all retired fascist police directors and retired generals to its party and protects them.

The colonial and imperialist war parties, DSP, MHP, ANAP, SP (Party of welfare), DYP etc. and their leaders B. Ecevit, D. Bahceli, M. Yilmaz, R. Kutan, T. Ciller etc. have become history, as we can see.

The share of the vote of the roof party DEHAP , which was leaning to the power of Kurdish national reformist party HADEP (Democracy Party of the People) and to the petty-bourgeoisie and reformist parties EMEP (Party of Labor) and SDP (Socialist Democracy Party), has stayed at 6.2%. Before, HADEP` s voting ratio was 4.8%. These parties, who participated in the elections as "Labor, Peace and Democracy Bloc", did not collected the amount of votes their expected.

Also, the other left reformist parties, D6DP and TKP could not show any existence by collecting under 0.5% of voting ratios.

Realities that the Election Results has brought into sight and possible developments

In Turkey, all the propaganda of "new politics, new parties and new mentality" is not enough to clime over the structural crisis, but the actual political crises will continue in different levels and shapes. The AKP is a coalition party. There are many reactionary/fascist sections, from political Islam to liberals, from MHP gangs to Hizbullah remnants, all taking part in the AKP. In the future, the AKP-government will experience conflicts, not only with their political lines, also because of internal contradictions within the political fractions that came together for their own interests.

Despite to supporting statements from USA, EU and TDCSIAD (the organization of big capitalists), the contradictions in between the government of AKP and MGK (National Security Commission), President, CHP and military will continue under the axis of Seriate and Secularism.

The AKP has gained 2/3 of the parliament by 26% of total electors, and according to the election law that is aiming at political stability, that means formation of the government by one party. By buying some of the independent Members of Parliament, they are going to reach enough votes to make constitutional changes.

22% of the electors did not participate in the elections. The will of 45% electors is not represented in the parliament because of the ten-percent-clause. This ratio was 17% in 1999 elections. Only 40% of the total electors are represented in the parliament. The Kurdish people is not represented in the parliament. As datum shows, this elections have got a problem of legitimacy. The people who have been elected by the minority of the electors could not have the right to represent the majority. This situation will lead to repetition of the elections and legitimacy discussions very soon.

Of course, there are many political, social and economical reasons for bankruptcy of the traditional regime parties

By its national liberation struggle, the Kurdish people has broken out from political and ideological influence of the ruling classes.

The Turkish workers and toilers have felt more distrust on bourgeoisie state, institutions of the state, bourgeoisie media, bourgeoisie army and regime parties in every passing day and entered into a process of breaking out. The changing demands of the toiling masses on the government have created the result of reconstruction in politics. And, through the reconstruction policies of 28 February military coup, this "new" situation will be tried to be directed and shaped.

Through AKP government, the Turkish bourgeoisie state will try to stop distrust and break out of the masses from the capitalist system and fascist regime and its institutions, and aims at calming down their reactions, pull them back into the system and let them make peace with the regime.

AKP goes through an electoral victory

because this result of the elections is an expression of the reaction of millions of oppressed peoples over the malpractices, poverty, unemployment and poorness. The gangs of malpractices, bribes and Susurluk with their machinations and speculations have never dropped from the agenda of the masses which suffer poverty and unemployment. The General President of AKP, Recep T. Erdo80an has undeservedly gained the image of "an honest, clear president", in the eyes of the poor masses during his term of office as mayor of Istanbul.

Because, this result is a reaction against the slavery of the dependency on the US-imperialism and IMF, against the national immorality, against the occupation of Palestine and the aggression of the USA on Iraq. Because, this result is a reaction against the economic crisis, against the economic and social results of the IMF program and policies; and a reaction against the regime parties who were not able to find solutions for this difficulties and problems.

In this elections, the AKP has come out successfully. Millions of oppressed people and poor people in the suburbs have given their votes to this party in helplessness, because it was new.

This election result is the result of the peoples search for a way out of the degeneration that is created by the capitalist system and the economic crisis and society's spiritual world, values, traditions and feelings. The facts and phantoms like bribe, prostitution, burglary, mendicancy, hunger, poverty, disengage of family and relative relations, estrangement to environment and family have took people to refuge to Islam. The address for this was the AKP. The AKP government will practice the IMF program and policies. It will support the imperialist occupation and war of the USA against Iraq. The AKP will work according to the demands and needs of TDCSIAD, MGK, USA and EU. AKP is predisposed to this by its social opportunism.

The other possible development would be the creation of a situation similar to 28 February. The religious sections, who voted for the AKP, may demand moves appropriate to their own interests and point of views. And, it is possible for MGK and some NGOs to show reaction against this and organize protests. We must be prepared for this development also.

ESP (Socialist Platform of the Oppressed) was the Revolutionary Alternative

On 3 November elections, the ESP and its independent socialist candidates, supported by the MLCP, had become the revolutionary and socialist choice of workers and toiling masses. The MLCP has made a revolutionary and active intervention to the election process by ESP `s independent socialist candidates. In this period, it has developed, increased and strengthened the revolutionary illumination, organization and struggling practices.

And, with a great revolutionary will and claim, the ESP, as the voice and vanguard of the oppressed people, has expressed its believe in future, its hope and determination by saying "We believe that everyone will soon see that the oppressed people are not without alternative. We continue on our way with this consciousness and believe..."

They were right, because they did not put people in liberal and reformist expectations. They have clearly and evidently explained the revolutionary alternative to the workers and toilers, to the youth and the Kurdish people. They showed the path of liberation to the proletariat and humanity.
