The plan to send troops to Lebanon came to the agenda of the parliament on September 5, at 3 pm. At the same time, the anti-imperialists from many cities of Turkey and Northern Kurdistan met in Ankara in order to protest against the plan with the slogans following: "The plan won't come through the parliament!", "We won't be the soldiers of Israel!", "We won't be the soldiers of the USA!", "USA, murder, AKP , collaborator!", and "One more Mach 1!"
Approximately 10.000 people participated in the demonstration from the trade-unions and professional organisations such as DISK , KESK , TMMOP, TTB , the Coordination against the Occupation in Iraq, the Platform against Zionism of Izmir, SDP , EMEP , ÖDP, Halkevleri , Küresel BAK, 68'liler Dernegi, Altı Nokta Körler Dernegi, ÖV-DER and other organisations. Some democratic mass organisations and revolutionary organisations, above all ESP and HOC , who participated massively, demonstrated behind a common banner of the Coordination against the Occupation in Iraq saying "abolition of the agreements with Israel. Don't send troops to Lebanon. No to the military operations crossing the border." The participants started their demonstration at the Kurtulus square and marched to Kizilay square. When the police had stopped the demonstration at the street of Ziya Gokalp, the anti-imperialists continued their action there.
After the speeches made the unions and professional organisations under the leadership of DISK and KESK decided to end the demonstration in spite of the session of the parliament still continuing. The Coordination against Occupation the in Iraq and the political parties went on walking up to the street of Yuksel and continued with the demonstration until 8 pm.
The actions against the planned sending of troops to Lebanon also continued in other cities such as Istanbul.

For young people of SODAP put a banner on the branch of Burger King in Taksim/Istanbul saying: "The youth won't be the soldier of the USA!" and as a result of that were detained by the police.

In spite of the struggles of the anti-imperialists going on for weeks and in spite of the fact, that %85 of the peoples of Turkey and Northern Kurdistan are against it, the collaborating AKP government has passed the plan to send troops to Lebanon through the parliament. The plan was passed with 340 votes in favour, 192 against it and one abstention.
