The revolutionary, democrat and anti-fascist forces took to the streets on the occasion of the 26th anniversary of 12 September 1980 military fascist coup. On 10 September, 2500 people organised a rally from Sihhiye Square behind the banner writing "Generals of Coup D'etat must be brought to justice". The call for rally was made by Ankara Anti-coup Platform. In the rally which was participated by DISK , KESK , TMMOB , ESP , SDP , DTP , Association of 78 and many revolutionary and democratic organisations, the people stand in one-minute of silence for the revolutionary martyrs and carried the pictures of the ones who were killed during 12 September coup. In the action, organised in Izmir again on 10 September and attended by nearly 1000 people, the people demanded the Generals of 12 September coup to be brought to justice and the abolishment of the temporary Article 15 of the constitution. The 12 September fascist coup also protested in Istanbul-Galatasaray Square on 10 September, but the people who wanted to march from there to Dolmabahce were prevented by the police. And on 12 September, 500 people condemned the USA-backed military coup by putting a black-wreath in front of the USA embassy and shouting "Down with fascism, down with the Generals of coup d'etat" in Ankara. The participators in the action have also protested the recent detention of 23 revolutionaries, including journalists and writers, and the imprisonment of 18 people while protesting the parliament's decision to send soldiers to Lebanon and Kofi Annan's visit to Ankara.
