Women from different democratic women organizations, who gathered in front of the Sincan Women’s Prison in Ankara on 4 November in order to protest the sexual violence against female prisoners in this prison, were exposed to the state’s violence. The gendarmerie controlled identity card and made body search arbitrarily and took 2 women affiliated to the Labourer Women’s Association ( EKD ) under custody. After this attack, the women organized a press statement to demand the immediate release of two women and the end of the sexual violence against female prisoners, opening a banner “Stop the isolation, sexual abuse and violation!”. The gendarmerie also attacked at this action. The action ended with the slogans “Repression cannot intimidate us!”, “Long live the women’s solidarity!”, “Stop state’s violence!”, “Female prisoners are not alone!”.
