BEKSAV and Art and Life Cultural Associations, which started actions in response to the call for mobilisation from Turkey by the Kurdish people who suffered the catastrophic flood, have organised a press meeting in TMMOB on 6 November. In the press statement on behalf of BEKSAV, it was said that the labourers in Diyarbakir, Batman, Urfa, Mardin and Van have lived the catastrophic flood, 42 labourers lost their lives as result of the flood and thousands of them have become homeless. It was emphasised that the state is only watching the trauma experienced by the people of region, and added that as BEKSAV, they are having meetings with the municipals and popular initiatives in the region and, therefore, started a campaign where the Turkish people will be mobilised. It was announced that they will work in order to increase the support of the municipals in Turkey, send delegations of experts to the region and form monitoring and co-ordination units together with intellectuals and artists. The press meeting was also attended and supported by the representatives of Tekstil-Sen Union and Labourer Women Association ( EKD ).
