Following the targetting of Ulkede Ozgur Gundem Newspaper by the Chief of Army Staff, General Yasar Buyukanit, saying "In this country, PKK has got a daily paper, this should not be allowed", the paper has been given 15 days of banning punishment under the allegation of "encouraging to commit crimes, praising the crimes and making propagandas of terrorist organisation" by the Istanbul No 10 Heavy Penal Court. The Ulkede Ozgur Gundem newspaper, which was started to be published on the 1st of March 2004, has come across with more than 600 court cases until the 16th of November 2006. Its 15 issues were banned-recollected. The paper, which is also shown as one of the foremost targets of the Anti-terror Law, was formerly targeted many times by the fascist generals. The implementation of recent banning decision on 4 August 2006 against the paper was counselled after the appeal. On the other hand, Gun TV, a local TV channel broadcasting in Diyarbakir, has suffered from the police raid during their live session on 19th August.
