 Many actions and activities have been carried out in different cities of Turkey and Northern Kurdistan in the context of the 25th of November, International Day against Violence on Women.
On 25 November, 500 women affiliated to Labourer Women’s Association, Democratic Women’s Movement, Free Women, the women’s circle “Gokkusagi”, women from the union Egitim-Sen and from the legal parties DTP , EMEP and SDP made a march with torches beginning from Taksim Square in Istanbul towards the Galatasaray Square. In their declaration they mentioned the reflections of violence against women in our region, expressing that 1137 women were murdered because of chastity between 2000 and 2006. They also spoke against the state’s terror through the New Anti-terror Law and demanded the immediate release of Cicek Otlu, president of the Labourer Women’s Association ( EKD ) and the other EKD members. Women’s platforms have made street actions in Izmir, Bursa, Ankara, Eskisehir, Adana, Malatya and Mersin to say “no!” to the violence against women.  Labourer Women’s Association in Istanbul organized “Women’s Asambles for Justice” on 26 November in the context of its campaign “We will not be the slaves of violence. We are women, we want freedom!”. It has gathered workers, unemployed, psychologists, journalists, teachers, house wives, lawyer and students to discuss “Anti-terror Law, Turkish Penal Code and Women”, “Murders for Chastity and Women”, “Domestic Violence and Women” and “War and Women”.
