The protests continue on the anniversary of the international complot on 15 February 1999 through which Abdullah Ocalan, PKK 's leader, was caught and handed over to the Turkish state. In Cizre, Sirnak, Silopi, Siirt, Van, Urfa, Amed and many other cities and districts of N. Kurdistan, also in the cities of the West such as Ankara, Istanbul, Mersin, Adana and Aydin, the protestors took the streets, organising marches with torches, cutting off the roads and closing down the shops. In some regions, clashes with the police were observed.
On 15 February in Istanbul, police attacked at the Kurdish patriotic youth who took the street in Okmeydani opening the flags of PKK and HPG (Peoples' Defence Forces). In face of this attack, the militants of our party MLCP also confronted the police with Molotov cocktails.
In Yuksekova, a group of young people had a discussion with the jeweller Ceveli Balin, a former village guard, during the protest action and close-down of the shops by the small shopkeepers. During the discussion, Balin shot Ozgen Tamur, one of the young people, on the stomach. Tamur was taken to the hospital and the protests against this still continue.
During the protests in Mersin, Umit Gonultas, who was killed by the state during the protests of 2005, was also commemorated.
