While the celebrations of Newroz Day continued during the whole week in many cities, the labourers districts of Istanbul was also lightened with the Newroz fires.
In the labourer's districts, the militia forces of our party MLCP celebrated Newroz through different actions. On 20 March, our militants, armed with guns, cut the main road in Umraniye 1 Mayis district. The action lasted for 40 minutes and the slogans "Long live Newroz, long live socialism!", "Equality, fraternity, freedom to the Kurdish nation!" and "Long live the fraternity of the peoples" were shouted. Here, the militants confronted with the police forces that were supported with helicopters. After the use of guns by the militia, the police withdrew its forces.
Our militants said the following in the statement about the action: "The fire of rebellion which was fired by Blacksmith Kawa against oppressor Dahhaq is still alive. It is burning today at the Kurdish people's uprisings, at the resistance of the peoples of the Middle East and at the fraternity of the peoples of Turkey. We celebrate the Newroz Day of our oppressed peoples with this consciousness."
On 21 March in the evening, our party forces cut the road in Gulsuyu district with Molotov cocktails and by burning tires. In the action, they shouted the slogans "Long live Newroz!" and "Long live the Kurdish people's uprising, long live MLCP!" Shouting the slogan "Tuncay Yildirim is alive, MLCP is fighting!", they also saluted our comrade Tuncay Yildirim who fell as a martyr on 21 March 2002 at the death fast against isolation in prisons.
On 27 March, a banner with bombs was hanged up at a bridge on E-5 highway in Yenisahra. The slogan "Rebel and uprise against the attacks against Kurdish people!"
In Sarigazi district, the militants of our party MLCP and MKP (Maoist Communist Party), TKP-ML (Communist Party of Turkey-Marxist Leninist and TKEP/L (Communist Labour Party of Turkey/Leninist) confronted the gendarmerie forces who attacked at the Newroz action. The conflict lasted for a few hours, where the revolutionary forces resisted against the gendarmerie with Molotov cocktails.
