Education labourers affiliated to the union Egitim-Sen met at the regional demonstrations under the slogan "For a humanly life and a democratic Turkey" in Izmir, Ankara, Van, Diyarbakir, Adana and Trabzon on 7 April and in Istanbul on 8 April. Thousands of labourers participated at the demonstrations and demanded that the extra-working hours should be paid, banishments and anti-democratic measures should end. The labourers also protested the imperialist occupation in the Middle East and they emphasised that the necessary steps for the peaceful and democratic solution of the Kurdish question should be taken.
Education labourers expressed that they will meet in Taksim on the 30th anniversary of the Massacre of 1 May 1977.
Teacher Huseyin Cebe, who was murdered for being an Allevite at the school where he was working in Gebze, was also commemorated.
