Preparations continue for the hearing on 13 April against 16 journalists, trade union leaders, revolutionary and socialist people who were arrested in Istanbul within the context of the police raids against socialist newspapers, radio, trade unions, women and youth associations and different socialist and revolutionary associations in more than 20 cities of Turkey and Northern Kurdistan on 21 September.
Ayse Yumli Yeter, General President of the textile workers' union Tekstil-Sen , Cem Dinc, General President, and Zafer Tektas, General Secretary of the dockyard workers' union Limter-Is , Figen Yuksekdag, representative of the Socialist Platform of the Oppressed ( ESP ), Cicek Otlu, president of the Labouring Women's Association ( EKD ), Halil Dinc, News Coordinator of the radio Ozgur, Sinan Gercek, worker of the same radio, Ozge Kelekci, correspondent of the newspaper Atilim and Emin Orhan, editor of the newspaper Dayanisma are among those who will be taken to the tribunal on 13 April for the first time after 6 months in prison.
The ESP activists, preparing for the "Meeting for Justice and Freedom" which is planned to be held in front of the Court of Besiktas in Istanbul on 13 April with the participation of wide masses, call upon workers and labourers to participate at the meeting through agitation speeches and distribution of flyers on the streets, at the street markets, on the public buses and in the cafés in the labourers' districts, through posters and through different actions and activities in many cities from Ankara to Antep and from Izmir to Diyarbakir.
An international delegation formed within the context of the campaign "We Want Freedom" in Europe will also be present at the hearing. Trade unionists, journalists, lawyers, human rights defenders, deputies, representatives of different political parties and organisations will be in Besiktas on 13 April in order to observe the hearing and to give support and solidarity to the prisoners.
On the other hand, intellectuals, journalists, trade unions and women organisations are making statements, actions and activities to call participation at the hearing on 13 April.
