The CID of the police headquarter declared that the bomb, which exploded on May 22 in front of Anafartlar shopping centre in Ulus, Ankara, was not of type A-4, as claimed immediately by the police and media, but of type "RDX". This type of bomb is considered as "bomb of the secret service" in a report of the investigating committee of TBMM. The first information given to the public when the smoke had not even gone, were that the bomb is of type A-4 and that it is therefore the PKK that is responsible, although there was no evidence for this claim. In the report of the investigating committee, the following phrase draws attention: "With all explosions of bombs of type RDX-A or RDX-C4, the offenders have never been caught or sentenced." It is known that RDX-bombs were once used for the assassination of Prof. Dr. Ahmet Taner Kışlalı and Prof. Dr. Bahriye Üçok. The bomb explosion at a market in Izmir-Bornova on May 12, which lead to the death of one person, was at first also claimed to be of type A-4. However, it was later declared that the bomb had been of type RDX. The bombing, which happened one day before the "Rally for the Republic" in Izmir was said to be a PKK action. But as soon as it was announced that the bomb in Izmir was of type RDX, the pictures of a "vivid bomb" were in the news, again without any evidence. The bombing in front of Anafartlar shopping centre was protested by many parties and democratic mass organizations. The Socialist Platform of the Oppressed ( ESP ) organized an action under the slogan "You can`t solve the problems of your regime with cross-border bombs" on May 25 in front of Galatasaray high school in Istanbul. In the press statement it was said: "Military operations have become more concrete after our people have been attacked with a bomb in Ulus. Possible objections have been overrun." Our labourer people must be attentive to those provocations" and "must raise the slogan of the brotherhood of the people". At the action, the mass shouted the slogans "Long live the briotherhood of the people", "Equality, brotherhood, freedom for the Kurdish people", "No to cross-border operations" and "No way for chauvinism". The bombing in Ankara was also protested by many institutions and trade unions, among them the ESP and the Association of Labourer Women" ( EKD ), the Party for a Democratic Society ( DTP ), IHD , SDP , EMEP , the trade unions DISK and KESK and TMMOB (Union of Chambers of Engineers and Architects) in Kocaeli and Bursa as well as by the Women`s Platform Ankara.
