16-year-old Nedim Karaca from Karaagac village bound to the district Kulp of Diyarbakir province was killed on the evening of May 31 when he was shot in his head at close range in the military area of Hazro gendarmerie headquarter. Whilst the Hazro gendarmerie headquarter told the family of the boy that their son "had died during a gunfight", the family reacted by saying: "How is it possible that a 16-year-old young boy fights with his gun alone in a military area which is full of soldiers and village guards?" the family said that they will open a legal procedure. Whilst the army's authority claimed first that the boy was first shot by village guards and later that he was killed in the military area, the family said that it is not possible that their son was in the military area which is quite far from their home.
