Attacks on DTP continue

The office of the DTP (Party for a Democratic Society) in Eskisehir was attacked in the night of 4 June by " unknown people". Molotow cocktails were thrown into the building which then caught fire and all thing inside were burnt. The DTP leadership explained that this attack was a provocation.
On 5 June, two Kurdish workers were troed to be lynched by a fascist group of 500 people for the reason of their t-shirts with the Kurdish singer Ahmet Kaya on it and having read the newspaper Gundem. The fascists later marched towards the office of the DTP in Sakarya. The young men who were attempted to be lynched told that a man came to them introducing himself as a "security officer" and then sudeenly shouted and therefor provoked the lynching attack.
The central administrative board of the DTP made a written statement expressing that the attacks which accumulated within the last period are organized as an answer to its decision to join the election with independent candidates. In the statement, it said further, that during the election period lots of proceedings are opened against party leaders and independent candidates whilst on the other hand attacks happen as the DTP has been shown as a target: "Although the existence and activities of political parties are guaranteed by the constitution, the DTP has been shown as target on an unjust and unlawful basis. The DTP called the people to be attentive towards any provocations that might happen in future and the democratic public to show support and attention.
