The date of the first trial against the communists, who were arrested between September 8-12 after operations in different cities of Turkey realized by the fascist Turkish state, has finally been set. The trial will take place on 26 Okctober 2007 at the 10th Heavy Penalty Court in Besiktas, Istanbul. As the file of the prisoners was closed for "security reasons", the 23 imprisoned communists had not been given any information for 9 months with what being charged. The accusation had only been proclaimed last month. Among the communists, who are considered as responsible for 296 actions that had happened in the time period of 1994-2006, there are journalists and radio channel staff too. According to the accusation of 292 pages pepared by Ali Cengiz Haciosmanoglu, the Public Prosecutor of the Republic in Istanbul, 13 communists are going to be sentenced with several times lifetime whilst 10 communists will get different verdicts sentenced between 10.5 and 45 years prison. The names of the communists who are going to be sentenced with several times lifetime are as following: Ibrahim Cicek, Chief editor of the newspaper Atilim; Sedat Senoglu, News Coordinator of the newspaper Atilim; Ziya Ulusoy and Bayram Namaz, journalists of the newspaper Atilim; Fusun Erdogan, Chief editor of the radio channel Ozgur Radio; Erkan Ozdemir, Sultan Ulusoy, Ali Hidir Polat, Arif Celebi, Seyfi Polat, Adem Serkan Gundogdu, Mehmet Ali Polat and Naci Guner. For Bilgi Tagac, Fatma Siner, Turac Solak, Hasan Ozan, Erkan Salduz, Soner Cicek, Arzu Torun, Elif Almakca, Hatice Bolat and Fethiye Ok, the sentences prepared are between 10.5 and 45 years of prison.
