On June 28, 12 activists of the DHP (Platform for Democratic Rights) had been arrested during raids on their homes by the Ankara police on a basis of a commemorational action for the 17 martyrs on June 17 at Kizilay, Ankara. The arrested were taken to court on June 29 for the reasons of "Praising the crime and the criminal" and "making propaganda for an illegal organisation". The action was a commemoration for the 17 martyrs of the MKP (Maoist Communist Party) who were killed at Mercan Valley by the forces of the fascist state on June 17, 2005. The trial finished with the verdict of imprisoning the 6 DHP activists based on §220 and §314 of the Turkish Penalty Law. They were taken to Sincan f-type prison.
On the other hand, on June 30, the DHP organised an action at Yuksel Street, Ankara and condemned the arrests and detentions. In the statement the organisation hold it was emphasized that imprisonment attacks increased on the basis of the new anti-terror law, the current police laws and notices.
