On World Peace Day September 1, actions were organised everywhere in Turkey and Northern Kurdistan.
In Bursa, 300 people followed the call of the Platform for Peace and gathered at Setbasi Bridge in the evening of September 1. With the banner saying "We march against racism, reaction, chauvinism and war; for peace, freedom and justice" they marched to the Old Courthouse. In a speech hold in the name of the platform a just, honorable and democratic peace; freedom of speech, action and organisation, a salary that allows a human life and an end of the imperialist wars and occupations were demanded and a call made to strengthen the fraternity of the people.
In Adana, a march took place that started on 5 January Square. The mass shouted the slogans „Barricades for the USA, freedom to the Middle East", "Turks, Arabs, Armenians, long live the fraternity of the people" and "Stop the operations" and demanded the closure of the US bases and especially of the Incirlik Air Base at Adana.
The Socialist Platform of the Oppressed ( ESP ) of Antakya organised an action on September 1 at Ulus Square with a banner saying "Socialism will free the world".
In Izmir, 500 people followed the call of ESP, DTP , EMEP , SDP and different organisations and met at Konak Square. The mass demanded an end of the US presence in the Middle East and a just and democratic solution in the Kurdish question. The workers of the transport company Akdeniz, all members of the trade union TUMTIS , that are leading a resistance because of their dismissal, joined the action, too. The Latin American music groups that were in Izmir on September 1 because of the Latin America Turkey Cultural Festival organised by BEKSAV in seven different cities of Turkey and Northern Kurdistan joined the action with their songs.
In Istanbul, different organisations gathered on Istiklal Street on the evening of September 1 and formed a "human chain for peace". The human chain that shouted the slogans "No to war, freedom right now", „Biji bratiya gelan" (Kurdish: „Long live the fraternity of the people") and „Murder USA get out of the Middle East" and marched alongside the street was stopped by the police at Galatasaray Square. Before the action was ended, the mass shouted the slogan "Long lives the fraternity of the people" and applauded to protest the police barricade.
5.000 people joined the rally at Iskele Square in the Istanbul borough Kadikoy organised by the DTP, IHD , ESP, KESK Istanbul Branches' Platform, EMP, EHP and SDP on September 2 and that was supported by 30 organisations. The rally finished earlier than planned because of the police interfering and switching off the sound system. After the rally was finished, the police attacked the mass and arrested 12 people.
