KONGRA-GEL (PKK) IS UNDER IMPERIALIST AND COLONIALIST BESIEGING

As a reflection of the imperialist and colonial besieging attack, the USA has intervened to the inside of Kongra-Gel ( PKK ). And this intervention has given birth to a new political formation under the name of Patriotic Democratic Party (PWD). This formation is an initiative of the pro-American and collaborator cadres and forces that took refuge behind the hegemony of USA and KYB (Union of Kurdistan Patriots - Celal Talabani) by escaping from the Kongra-Gel. These pro-Americans are seeking to become the KYB and KDP (Democratic Party Of Kurdistan) of Northern Kurdistan, and are led by former members of PKK's Presidency Council, Osman Ocalan (brother of A. Ocalan) and Nizamettin Tas.

The action and programme of the initiative take the pro-American solution in the Kurdish question as the base. Osman Ocalan and PWD qualify the USA's occupation in Iraq as "democratic colonialism" and declare their support on the USA's occupation in Iraq and the Greater Middle East Initiative (GMEI) because of destroying the status quo in the Middle East and establishing "democracy".

"The oppressive authoritarian regimes -those who are anti-democratic, disregard the right and freedoms of human and prevent the free democratic development of the peoples and the Kurds in the Middle East- have to be passed over. On this meaning, the USAintervention, which aims to destroy the status quo in the region, must be supported because it presents an opportunity of democratisation and increases the opportunities of solution for the Kurdish question. Again, the Broader Middle East Initiative will accelerate the process of passing over the un-modern position that has been experienced by the region." they said in the PWD's foundation resolution.

PKK began to develop on a revolutionary national line by conducting guerrilla warfare against the colonial occupation in Northern Kurdistan (Turkey's Kurdistan) since the August of 1984. It led to a great national awakening and re-surviving struggle first in Northern Kurdistan and then in other parts. The Kurdish people have awoken and politicized; they fought more when they experienced the freedom and politicizing more and more. The national awakening and re-surviving have spread to Kurdistan's other three parts (Iran, Syria and Iraq). And the Kurdish question entered into the agenda of the entire world. PKK opposed challengingly to the New World Order (NOW). It resisted for many years to the NOW because it was influenced from socialism and leaned on the poor Kurdish people.

From the year of 1993 and onwards, the USA imperialism and the colonialist Turkish regime concentrated on a new conception of attacks that took dirty and dark methods as the base and leaned on the collaboration between CIA, MOSSAD and MIT (National Intelligence Organisation of Turkey) when the Kurdish national liberation struggle reached the level of Kurdish Revolution and start carrying a tendency to spread into Turkey and the region. The USA and EU imperialists did not only gave a political support but, at the same time, they first took A. Ocalan, General President of PKK, out of Syria by an international imperialist conspiracy and later, in 1999, captured him in Kenya and handed him over to the Turkish bourgeois state as a result of negotiations.

A. Ocalan was associated with the leadership in PKK. His capture was a very important loss and curve for the PKK. A. Ocalan has put forward a new strategy for PKK, the peaceful development strategy that aims "democratic republic" in Turkey, through his statements, defence and court speeches in Imrali (an island in the Marmara Sea where A. Ocalan is imprisoned). Thus, PKK has transformed from a revolutionary national party into a reformist national party.

MLCP has described this development as the break of political will and liquidation; an ideological surrender and liquidation.

There is no doubt that this understanding, political and ideological stance has created a serious ground for the treachery and the collaboration of pro-American forces those who escaped from the Kongra-Gel. Just as the necessity of the new strategy of itself, the Kongra-Gel has either stayed in silence on the USA's occupation in Iraq and Middle East or supported it. It has defended understandings and politics such as USA destroys the status quo administrations in Iraq and the Middle East and takes "democracy" to the region. Kongra-Gel did not take part in the international and local actions against the imperialist occupation and aggression, and distanced itself from them. In the last elections, it choose to form alliance with SHP (Social Democrat People's Party) and M. Karayalcin (Former Deputy Prime Minister), the partner of war-government in 1993.

The developments in Kongra-Gel were also affected because of its search for alliance with SHP for the polls and its reconciled policies against the activities in protest of NATO Summit in June in Istanbul. And this state is a form and result of the crisis of the Kurdish national movement.

All of these are meant to be the stones that were floored on the escape of Osman Ocalan and his group. It was evident that there would be internal problems and crises during the five years of "inactiveness" of the guerrillas. Because, the historical realities, political developments and events have also tested certain political foresights and stances, and took it to the limit. It imposed all understandings and thoughts to live their own practice.

In the current position, the Turkish bourgeois government has always demanded the PKK's liquidation from the USA by putting forward a few non-functional crumbs of reformist laws it has passed, and it demands that leaning on its approval of and becoming the extension of USA policies in the region.

The USA, among other things, knew that it could not liquidate the PKK which could not be finished by the Turkish bourgeois army throughout 15 years, and it did not want to live another bog after Iraq in the region. Instead of armed attack, it concentrated on intervening into the Kongra-Gel, to disarm them with "other methods" and to pull them to the KDP and KYB's line (These parties are the Kurdish betrayer forces who support the occupation of Iraq and collaborate with the USA, and from time to time they have fought against the PKK together with the Turkish Army). The USA was in a special relationship with Osman Ocalan since a certain time because of his surname. And it tries to make PKK ineffective through Osman Ocalan. The leaders of Kongra-Gel such as Murat Karayilan, Cemil Bayik and Duran Kalkan announced this escape and refuge to USA "as the continuation of the international conspiracy". And they added that the PWD is a new "UNITA" that formed by the USA.

The Kongra-Gel and the Kurdish National Movement is under the military, political, ideological and psychological pressure of the USA, EU and the colonial states in the region. These examples of attacks are increasing and continuing. The colonialist fascist regime and its media conducted a "political lynch" campaign against the Mayor of Diyarbakir (the biggest city of Kurdistan), Osman Baydemir who visited the family of a guerrilla who was recently massacred.

The bodies of the massacred guerrillas are suffering from brutalities such as cut off arms, heads and ears. The state within the state, which disregards all rules and laws has not digested the "Kurdish language course" and the release of the DEP MPs (Leyla Zana and her three friends), which both happened because of the Kurdish people's struggle and the pressure of external dynamics, and both meant to be crumbs. It is still after a revenge through chauvinist and denial policies.

In this process, MLCP considers the necessity of uniting and increasing the resistance against the imperialist and colonial besiegement as a duty by showing through its own action. It carries the historical and political responsibility of protection of the achievements, products and values of the Kurdish national revolution, and upholds the political action for this purpose.

Today it has been seen again that the real solution to the Kurdish problem is a revolu-tionary popular solution. This puts in front of us the objectives of uniting the Kurdish national liberation struggle with the struggle against USA imperialism; of putting an end to the expectations on the bourgeois or pro-American solution; of succeeding in conducting the common fight of the Kurdish peoples together with Turkish toilers against the Turkish bourgeois state.
