While soon there will be the trial of the 23 communists, that had been arrested and imprisoned in September last year after operations in Turkey and Northern Kurdistan, on October 26 where the communists will convict fascism, calls for the participation in the trial and solidarity increase.
The relatives of the imprisoned ESP -activists organised an action on October 20 in front of the local office of the AKP and called for solidarity. The prisoners` relatives opened a banner read "We demand justice and freedom. Not our children but the mafiosis should be convicted" and said in a statement: "All revolutionaries, democrats, Kurdish patriots and socialists that oppose poverty and tyranny fill the prisons. The law and organisations of September 12, 1980, continue to realise repression, torture and intimidating politics in every field of life." At the action, intellectuals, progressive and revolutionary organisations were called to watch the trial on October 26. The relatives also shouted the slogans "Not our children, but the gangs must be convicted", "the revolutionary prisoners are not alone" and "On October 26 we will be at Besiktas".
On October 19 ESP activists chained themselves in front of the ATV channel's building and blockaded the street to make a call for the trial. The police attacked the ESP activists and arrested them; however, they were later on released.
Police terror on the actions and activities calling for the participation in the trial continue.
While the offices of the ESP in Antakya, Antep and Malatya were raided under the pretext that the leaflets calling for the trial had been banned, some activists were arrested and later released.
