Peace and Brotherhood Actions in Istanbul

After the Rally for Peace and Brotherhood, that was planned to be realised by progressive and revolutionary organisations, political parties and platforms at Caglayan on December 9, among them the Socialist Platform of the Oppressed ( ESP ), DTP (Democratiy Society Party), EMEP (Party of Labour) and SDP (Socialist Democracy Party), was banned by Istanbul Governor, actions were organised in the labourer quarters of Istanbul.
In the quarter Kanarya militants of our party MLCP and of the PKK marched with a banner on which it said "Edi Bese" in Kurdish (English: "It is enough") and were attacked by the police with gas bombs and tanks. The mass resisted and threw stones and molotow cocktails at the police. At the action the slogans "Disa disa serhildan , azadiya Kurdistan", "Kurdistan will become a grave for fascism", "Long live revolutionary solidarity" and "Long live our party MLCP" were shouted. The action continued for a long time with clashes in the side streets.
In Sarigazi, Kurdish-patriotic youth gathered in front of the DTP office and organised a march at Democracy Street towards the AKP office shouting the slogan "Biji serok Apo". After the press statement made in front of the local office of the AKP, the gendarmerie attacked the mass and clashes occurred where the AKP office was thrown at with stones.
While the clash continued, our party militants blockaded the traffic on the main road. Nearly 30 people were arrested during the clashes.
In Okmeydani, the police attacked the Kurdish patriots and revolutionaries waiting in front of the Health Clinic with gas bombs and tanks. The mass defended itself by throwing stones and molotow cocktails.
In Kartal, Esenyurt, Alibeykoy and the quarter Gazi the DTP, ESP, EMEP and other organisations organised an action and protested against the ban of the rally. The masses raised the slogan for the brotherhood of the people against racism and chauvinism and demanded a democratic solution in the Kurdish question. At the action the slogans "Edi Bese", "It is enough", "The oppression can not beat us" and "Long lives the brotherhood of the people´s".
The actions continued in the late hours.
In the quarter Gazi, militants of our MLCP started to march from Cemevi towards the Former Police Station on the main road where they met with PKK militants. The police attacked this action and the mass answered the attack by throwing molotow cocktails and setting two tanks on fire.
In Gulsuyu, militants of our party MLCP and of the PKK organised an action where they also established barricades. The police attacked the action with gas bombs, the mass resisted with stones and molotow cocktails. When the police left, the action was finished.
