Coordination Council of worker's movement of Ukraine
Editorial collective of the newspaper «Worker`s Action»

The Turkish government - the government of executioners!
We are indignant of judicial punishment above 23 socialist activists arrested on September, 8-12 of the last year. Turkish authorities do not want and cannot not only take into account interests of millions Turkish workers, but even simply to listen to their voice. Besides, the Turkish government in powerless rage tries to muffle a voice of the truth, severely finishing with the best representatives of Turkish people. Proteges of the capital in official, police and judicial armchairs expect that monstrous terms of the conclusion will break courageous resistance of workers. But it is not so. Severe judicial punishment above socialists and the left journalists once again will open antinational essence of the Turkish government and will inspire people on struggle against a police regime.
We express the brotherly solidarity with struggle of Turkish comrades and we demand from the president and the government of Turkey of immediate and unconditional clearing of all political prisoners.
Long live freedom!
Long live the international solidarity!
Down with capitalism and police brutality!

(Shortened version)

Dear comrades,

We also made a longer article for the press...

*Stop the persecution and suppression of the Kurds.*

The party Red, Norway, are very concerned about the enhanced persecution and suppression of the Kurds and the radical political opposition in Turkey.

The threats of invading Iraq to attack PKK has a low credibility, as long as Turkey are refusing the offer of PKK to solve the conflict through political negotiations.
The conflict also are escalating through the increasing attacks upon Kurdish deputies and members and offices of the party DTP ; as the bombing of their party office in Antalya, setting on fire their offices in Manisa and Belikesir and the shooting at several party officers from
that party. These incidents are made possible by the hostility hurled up by the anti-Kurd propaganda instigated by the authorities.

The trial of October 26th in Istanbul is another example of anti-Kurd and antidemocratic acts from the State.
These persons are accused of being members of a banned party. To our knowledge this is considered enough to be put to trial and sentenced, by laws founded through the coup d'etat in September 1980.

We urge the Government of Turkey to stop this policy and try to solve the national and social conflicts through political means.

Oslo, October 23rd 2007

IRAN

Party of Labour of Iran (Toufan)

Dear Comrades,
With revolutionary greeting, we would like to inform you that the attached message is sent to several high ranking officials of the Turkish government, to protest against the trial of the 23 Communists.
We wish you all the best.
The Party of Labour of Iran (Toufan)

To the High Ranking Officials of the Turkish Government,

We are informed that your government has decided to put 23 progressive, revolutionary, and communist activists on trial on October 26, 2007. These individuals have been arrested and imprisoned since September 2006, and are not even told what they are accused of!
It is known that these revolutionary and communist activists support the democratic rights of people to freedom. They defend the working people of Turkey who have been intensely suppressed by your government, and they come from the poor section of the society who has been exploited by the pro imperialist wealthy minority of Turkey. These activists support and defend the just struggle of the Kurdish people for their right to self-determination. They oppose the exploiters of Turkey whose interests are to ally themselves with the imperialists and Zionists. These progressive individuals defend the rights of workers to strike, to form labour organisation, and to fight for social justice. These communists have taken the sides with all the exploited working people of that land, whether Turkish, or Kurdish, or Armenian, or Arab, or ...
What else are they guilty of!!!?
We, the Party of Labour of Iran (Toufan), express our utmost disgust and outrage for the officials who have ordered such a trial. Shame on those who chain and imprison the best sons and daughters of the people of Turkey! We demand the immediate and unconditional release of these progressive activists.

The Party of Labour of Iran (Toufan)

FREEDOM TO THE TURKISH AND KURDISH JOURNALISTS!

President Abdullah Gül abdullah.gul@tbmm.gov.tr

The International Council for Friendship and Solidarity with Soviet People expresses its camaraderie and unity with the 23 Turkish and Kurdish journalists who are being tried on October 26, 2007 in the Heavy Penal Court of Beşiktaş in Istanbul and protests their conviction, as well as the proposed inhumane sentences.

The chief editor of the newspaper Atılım, İbrahim Çiçek, vice chief editor of the same newspaper Sedat Şenoğlu and two writers of Atılım, Bayram Namaz and Ziya Ulusoy, Broadcasting Coordinator of the local radio station "Özgür Radyo" Füsun Erdoğan, as well as other social and revolutionary activists, 23 in total, were taken under custody, imprisoned on the September 8, 2006 and have been held in prison for 14 months.

We condemn this imprisonment attack, which was based on the new Anti-Terror Law. We denounce the use of the Anti-Terror Law as the pretext for putting legal secrecy over the files of the arrested. This trial is a reprehensible attack on the freedom of thought and speech. The Turkish government is using the post 9/11 hysteria devised by the ruling elite as an opportunity to label every disagreement with an official stance as terrorism. These tactics of silencing the fighters against the current worldwide exploitational system are childish, cowardly and fruitless. They will only breed more resistance and are doomed to failure.

Today the entire world watches and listens to Turkey and measures its commitment to civilised behaviour by its actions and choices. Silencing the voices courageous enough to shout the truth is not the best way of building respect and trust in the world. People all over the world are watching this trial as a barometer measuring the ability of Turkish citizens to truly practice what are considered basic rights in the international community.

The International Council for Friendship and Solidarity with Soviet People expresses its solidarity with the imprisoned activists and greets them with the assurance of the ultimate victory of their just cause.
