Exactly one year after the murder on Hrant Dink, the masses of many cities in Turkey and Northern Kurdistan raised again the slogan "We are all Armenians, we are all Kurds". The protests against the counterrevolutionary assassination on Hrant Dink, the chief editor of the Armenian newspaper Agos, and the clear fact that the state played an important role in this murder have not stopped since then. In contrary, the slogan for justice has been raised everywhere. In many different cities such as Antep, Bursa, Malatya and Ankara and mainly in Istanbul, progressive, democratic and revolutionary forces organised actions and commemorations. These actions were against a state that is responsible for the killing of an progressive, democratic intellectual who fought for the people to live together freely.
Ten thousands gathering together in front of Agos newspaper office in Istanbul commemorated Hrant Dink at the time he was shot by laying down carnations at the place and shouting slogans. Dink`s wife Rakel Dink held a speech in which she stressed that her husband`s blood can not be washed away this easy, that only justice can stop the blood`s scream and that ten thousands came together for this reason. Rakel Dink also emphasized that there are numerous proofs for the fact that the state is clearly involved in this massacre and that there were many contradictions in the trial at court. After the commemoration the masses began to march towards Taksim Square.
During the whole march the masses expressed their anger by continously shouting the slogans "The murderer state will render account" and "I am Kurdish, Turkish, Armenian" and "Long live the people`s brotherhood". After the march the masses organised militant actions and condemning chauvinism and fascism. Stones were thrown at the offices of the National Canal and the fascist MHP that are the spokesmen of the generals and located at Istiklal Street, Istanbul-Taksim.
The fascist dictatorship did not watch silently this determined performance of ten thousands for the brotherhood of the people. The masses were attacked with gas bombs and truncheons. The police terror and clashes continued in the side streets and 15 people were arrested. As the police made use of their unlimited rights and constantly attacked the masses, one worker was injured by a police bullet.
However, neither the policy of denial and the policy of annihilation nor the fascist Turkish state`s chauvinism extended in every area will make the people give up their demand for the equality and brotherhood of the people. The mass commemorations at the first anniversary of the murder on Hrant Dink have shown that counterrevolutionary terror and chauvinist propaganda will not intimidate the masses. The demand for the state to render account for its crimes is raised by a broad mass. Labourer masses have joined the commemorations and thereby showed its stance in favour of the brotherhood of the Turkish, Kurdish and Armenian people.
Our party fights for the development of the common struggle of all workers and labourers of different nations and nationalities living in Turkey and Kurdistan against the fascist dictatorship.
