The strike at Tuzla was also supported internationally. The General Secretary Guy Ryder of the International Unionists' Confederation ITUC, the Scandinavian Metal Workers' Federation NORDIC IN, the Polish union Solidarnosc, and unions from the Czech Republic, Austria and Italy sent protest messages to president Tayyip Erdogan and solidarity messages to DISK and Limter-Is supporting the strike. Dirk Hoehner from the German Confederation of Trade Unions (DGB) joined the 24 hour lasting sit-in of DISK at Tuzla and supported the dockyard workers. In the messages sent, the unhealthy working conditions at Tuzla were stressed and it was demanded to accept the workers' demands as well as to take measures to ensure secure working conditions.
