The number of workers that ere killed in work-related accidents at the shipyards has finally rose to 98 after one more worker lost his life on the morning of June 8. 35-year old Ihsan Turan, father of two children, died when he was working on deck and the heck roof fell on his head. Turhan is the 4th worker losing his life at Tuzla shipyards only in the last months. In a statement made by
Limter-Is union it was declared that the roof had the form of a rectangle instead of a square or a circle and additionally was not yet welded so that it fell down.
On the morning of June 9, Limter-Is organised an action in front of Selahattin Arslan shipyard. At the action, it was drawn attention to the fact that Turhan had lost his life working on a Sunday and that shipyard workers must work Saturday and Sunday, without any regulations and registration. At the action Limter-Is once more emphasized its determination to go on strike on June 16 against the work-related accidents.
