The government that has been in trouble due to the Tuzla strike on June 16 organised a meeting on the shipyards titled "the Prime Minister is caring about Tuzla" on June 19 at the Prime Minister Office at Dolmabahce Palace. As Prime Minister Erdogan did not invite the union Limter-Is and workers` representatives, only representatives of the government as well as the shipyard bosses and representatives of the counter union Dok-Is came together. At the meeting none of the demands raised by Limter-Is in order to hinder the work-related accidents was on the agenda. {divide}
Altogether 50 people, among them Minister of Industry and Trade Zafer Caglayan, Minister of Work Faruk Celik, Minister of Culture and Tourism Ertugrul Gunay, Minister of Transport Binali Yildirim, Secretary of Maritime Affairs Hasan Nailoglu, representatives of the shipyards` bosses organisation GISBIR , Association of Ship Industrialists and Dok Gemi-Is. Prime Minister Erdogan focused on the development of the shipbuilding industry and stressed that "work-related accidents resulting in death" at all shipyards over the world happen and claimed that the number of work-related accidents has decreased since 2002.
At the meeting decisions were taken mainly on the "development of the sector" including the decision that the region of Tuzla shipyards shall become an "industrial region" and the foundation of a specialized industrial region for ship supplier industry where the Tuzla shipyards` region shall be integrated into.
Both the Dolmabahce meeting of the Prime Minister as well as the decisions to close down Nur Istanbul Shipyard for one month and Dentas Shipyard for five days after the Tuzla strike because of the lack of security measures for work, show the incompetence of the government and the bosses against the shipyard workers` struggle as well as the forceful power of the strike.
