On November 8, the first Regular General Meeting of Genc-Sen started in Ankara. Together with hundreds of young people coming from different provinces, also the secretary-general of DISK , Tayfun Gorgun and the president of KESK , Ismail Hakki Tombul participated in the General Meeting. {divide} In the first session, Kivanc Eliacik, member of the central executive committee, evaluated the one years´ work. Moreover, Tayfun Gorgun drew attention to the fact that the struggle of the students and the labourers united. The General meeting also informed about the trial to close down Genc-Sen and called upon the people to participate in the next court hearing on November 18. The discussion concerning the future activities of Genc-Sen in the second session about a proposal signed by 10% of the delegates was very controversial. Outstanding issues of the discussion were secondary schools, women, universities and technical education, the role and functioning of Genc-Sen in social developments, establishing of new offices and the modification of the statute. After the discussions about the proposal the new central executive committee was elected. On November 9, the members of Genc-Sen took to the streets on the occasion of November 6, the foundation date of YOK , in order to protest against this institution. The young people demonstrated with a banner saying "The universities are ours, No to YOK" from Kurtulus to the Sakarya square. This action of Genc-Sen was the final of many protest actions, which took place in many cities from Canakkale to Samsun and from Istanbul to Izmir.
