Women organisations took the streets in many cities of Turkey and Northern Kurdistan through actions and activities organised on November 25, International Day of Solidarity and Struggle against Violence on Women. The women who opened an exposition of tools used for violence on women at Galatasaray Square in Istanbul were attacked by the police. {divide}The police destroyed the exposition materials. The women protested this through a sit-in action and drew attention to the fact that the state's violence on women continues even on November 25. In the evening, the Women's Platform of Istanbul tried to realise a march from Taksim Square to Galatasaray Square. As they were stopped by the police barricades, the turned Taksim Square into a venue of demonstrations. The Kurdish women also organised an action in Istanbul in Eminonu district. The following was stressed at the action organised by the Democratic Free Women's Movement: "The Kurdish women face the sexual attacks of militarism. Women who demand equality, freedom and justice are even more intensely exposed to this kind of systematic torture. Violence is being supported by the state". The Democratic Women's Platform of Malatya organised an action at the city centre of Malatya under the slogan "Stop the violence against women!" and stated the following: "We the women face with many difficulties in our struggle for changing the world. We have never remained and will never remain silent in this country where racism is tried to be increased, misuse of the religious beliefs of people has diffused to all parts of the society, our labour is exploited, we are condemned to poverty, our right to healthcare, education and life is being violated and we are exposed to the violence of increasing prices". In Izmir, Adana, Bursa, Mersin, Ankara and Antakya, various actions were organised against violence on women. Besides organising many street actions in different cities on November 25, the EKD also organised an activity called "Women's Justice Court" on November 23 in order to judge the state's violence on women. At this activity that took place at the theatre hall Haldun Dormen, many topics such as the state's violence and militarism, dirty war in Kurdistan and the use of violence on women, sexual abuse and violation under police custody, the case about the rape and murder of Pippa Bacca and the case against the rapist Huseyin Uzmez were discussed.
