Workers of BRISA factory, which is situated in Alikahya district of Kocaeli and is among the biggest tire producers of the country, have stopped work against layoffs that came to agenda with the pretext of economic crisis and they refuse to leave the factory. The action was started by the workers of the 8.00-16.00 turn, when the workers came to the factory to start work and they learnt at the gates that at least 20 workers were dismissed. When workers of the 16.00-24.00 turn and 24.00-08.00 turn came to factory with service vehicles, they also decided to join the others and by that, the resistance spread to all workers. The workers have not announced until now how long the action will continue in factory where 1300 workers are employed.
