Why does the fascist regime attack the MLCP?
Since the day when the MLCP declared its foundation as the vanguard of the working class, the voice and the fist of the oppressed and having a stronger ideological comprehension, a new political mentality and a new quality of cadres, it had to face systematically organised attacks of the fascist regime. Our young comrade, a worker and an honour member of our party Erdal Balci was killed on November 4, 1994 by the police when hanging up a banner on which the victory of the Struggle for Unity[39*] and the foundation of our party were announced. The regime protected the murderers although this was an open extra-judicial killing. Neither they were imprisoned nor was a trial started against them or any prison sentence given. Since this massacre, that happened within the first two months since the foundation of our party, the political regime's fascist terror, in forms of first of all torture, forced disappearan-ce, sexual assault and rape, extrajudicial killings on the streets, have never stopped for 14 years. From forced disappearance to torture, from one-sided attacks by the police to clashes with the police, from assassination covered as traffic accident to the deaths fasts to which the state opened the way, from the massacres in Gazi and Umraniye to prison massacres, from the massacre on Mayday 1996 to the war preparations, our party lost dozens of its members, supporters and sympathisers becoming martyrs, among them delegates of the founding congress, founding members and also founding members from the CC. We commemorate here the comrades that turned into martyrs and all revolutionary martyrs with respect by commemorating the first immortal martyr of the MLCP Erdal Balci and the first immortal female martyr Sengul Boran. We are proud of having been bound and continuing to be bound to their memories and ideals. It is obvious that not even a single person has been imprisoned for the torture faced by hundreds of our comrades, and for the state's killings and killings with torture. Not a single person was sentenced. In the last 14 years the fascist regime announced many times that with a "big", then a "bigger" and the "biggest" operations, our central committee had been "captured", that our party was "collapsed" and that the MLCP would not be able to stand up again"! After September 8, 2006 the same refrain was repeated! Obviously, it has alarmed and scared the dictatorship that in the struggle of our party against the collaborator monopolist bourgeoisie and fascism, denial, colonialism and imperialism, its relations built with the working class and oppressed and its talent to mobilise them have developed, its capacity and power of political struggle have grown, its success to combine different forms of struggle has increased and out of them, the revolutionary violence has appeared as a distinguishing characteristic. As to be understood by the indictment and the words of Istanbul governor Muammer Guler, the last plan of attack had been prepared in summer 2004, after the NATO summit. According to the indictment: "After its 3rd Congress was organised in summer 2002, the terror organisation MLCP focused more on clandestine activities and continued to follow a more active line of actions than the other left terror organisations. The terrorist organisation MLCP chose topics for its actions of the last years among the issues which were on the agenda of the public". This evaluation shows the reason of the regime's attacks and of the arbitrariness and hostility in the indictment as well as the targets and the aim of these trials. What we would say to those speaking in the name of capital and fascism and putting forward these claims is as follows: You are right to have disquietude about the revolutionary activities and development of the MLCP and a deep class hostility towards our party! The MLCP is the renaissance of the communist movement. This shows itself most concretely in its line of policy-making. Our party has advanced by basing on revolutionary will convicting spontaneity, on the spirit of revolutionary breakthrough against mainstream mentality, on the comprehension of taking the party as means instead of ends and against introversion, going to the masses tirelessly again and again, and finally, organising the struggle together with the masses. This change of the mentality in the understanding of political leadership and course of political struggle is the main basis for the MLCP's march from the vanguard party to the leading party and its claim for leadership. Yes, it is true that the MLCP stood out among others especially during the period of 2002-2006. It showed a fast development. By intervening in the situation that the politics becomes an ortaoyunu[40*] of the ruling classes, it tried to develop the political practice of the working class and oppressed. It acted upon all political, social and economic problems and topics with a communist perspective. It organised campaigns and activities with the aim of bringing the problems of the working class and the oppressed to the agenda. By using all means and forms of struggle, it posted itself within the oppressed people's struggle and at its first ranks. In order to open the way for the masses' struggle and activate the potential energy, it organised vanguard actions. It continued uninterruptedly its search and efforts for the development of its capacity of political reflex and for an increase in quality of its level of intervention. From political mass work, insistence on taking deep roots within the masses and continuous and tireless work among masses, it advanced towards the level of making politics with the masses. It became a part of the workers' struggles such as the occupation and resistances in SEKA, Seydisehir and TEKEL, work-related accidents and layoffs. It organised campaigns with the aim of educating and mobilising the masses for class achievements on many issues such as the slavery law no. 4857[41*], the GSS[42*], uninsured and non-unionised work, fascist laws on trade unions and strike. It tried to advance the single workers' resistances and struggles that it supported, took place in or led, towards a general strike and general resistance. It stood out in mobilising the people in the struggle against the attacks of house demolitions in labourers' neighbourhoods[43*]. It led the actions of revolutionary mass violence, and it was never missing at the barricades. It struggled for organising the united struggle of single labourers' neighbourhoods that were under the threat of house demolitions. It organised actions and campaigns against the policies of degeneration and corrosion, drug sale and gangs carried out by the fascist regime in labourers' neighbourhoods. It stood up against the provocations and attacks which the gangs working for civil fascists and the police tried to carry out. It became one of the vanguard dynamics of the student youth's struggle against paying for education, the YOK, university fees, interrogations, the OSS, degeneration and gangs, the police terror at universities and high schools, attacks by civil-fascists, housing problems and the ban on education in mother tongue.[44*]. It carried out a tenacious work to strengthen the women's democratic struggle and to develop the women's liberation movement. It carried out political work on many topics such as violence against women, the inequalities given by laws and in social life, social oppression, the increase of this oppression and inequalities because of class and national motives and for a solution of the problem of nurseries and women's shelters. Our party never stopped its agitation and propaganda for the Kurdish people's right to national self-determination and did not hesitate even for one moment to support the resistance and struggle of the Kurdish national democratic movement against fascist colonialist attacks based on denial. It took to the streets with all forms of struggle against denial and annihilation, racist-chauvinist lynch attacks and massacres such as in the example of Semdinli and Amed. It organised campaigns and activities of enlightenment so that the sectors poisoned with chauvinism among our Turkish people face the facts. It struggled for the development of the understanding of labourers' solution.[45*] Our party displayed political activities in different forms for the people's demand for justice as well as the working class' and oppressed people's demands for democratic rights and freedoms. It carried out active struggles against the draft law changes concerning the "anti-terror law" and the "law on criminal execution" that were renewed on the basis of keeping their fascist contents. It organised political activities to break the chains on the freedom of speech and freedom of thought, such as the press laws, article 301 and others. With militant mass power, our party has been the communist voice and cry of the working class and the oppressed at Mayday celebrations, Newroz celebrations, celebrations of March 8, actions against the occupation of Iraq, solidarity actions with the people of Palestine and Lebanon and the actions against sending troops to Afghanistan and Lebanon. It organised solidarity actions with different struggles of the world's people. It was the leading force of the struggle against imperialism's military organisation NATO and its summit in Istanbul. Despite all precautions taken and bans set by fascism, our party prepared a revolutionary welcoming for the NATO members and first of all for Bush and other ringleaders of the US imperialism. It displayed a vanguard practice to show that Turkey does not consist of only collaborators and warmongers. This process of struggle that rendered the imperialists and the collaborator fascist regime helpless increased the honour and prestige of our peoples in the eyes of the world's people. It must be for all this that the dictatorship did not stop attacking our party systematically and increased the extent and level of the attacks after the NATO summit. We are not surprised, however, it needs to be stressed that those who found it normal to let their hands be controlled by CIA agents when waiting in the queue to welcome Bush, those who did not have any limit in subservience and dishonour could not digest the struggle led against NATO, which is the enemy of the world's people, and the helpless situation in front of their masters they got into. Following the orders of the imperialists and with their technical support, they started an attack on our party. We don't mind. As the student and decisive successor of the best traditions of the revolutionary movement, the MLCP has been proud to show during the period of the NATO summit as well as in all actions of the MLCP that the banner of struggle raised by Deniz, Mahir and Ibrahim against imperialism is being waved in reliable hands. History did not give the exploitation system and the fascist regime, collaborator of imperialism, the right to convict the comrades of Deniz, Mahir and Ibrahim. No force and no law can put a shadow on the historical and political justness of our party. Those who waged attacks on our party, who declared that they had organisationally destroyed our party for so many times that I cannot even count it any more, who tried to cheat the working class and our peoples with psychological war based on lies and who wanted to take revenge for the development of the MLCP's revolutionary activities of organisation and its capacity to renew itself on the basis of self-criticism, practical activities and by learning from its successes, must know that they will face disappointment. You can kill the militants of the MLCP, you can imprison them and weaken their activities for some time at a particular level for this or that reason, but you cannot stop the MLCP which is the flag of freedom and socialism, of the demands, longings and dreams of the working class and the oppressed, which stands against capitalist exploitation, fascism, the yoke of denial and colonization, the patriarchal chains on the women, social injustices and the imperialist yoke. Nevertheless, on the contrary to the fascist psychological war propaganda after September 8, 2006, the working class and our people and revolutionaries and anti-fascists from Turkey and Northern Kurdistan and from different countries of the world have seen that the MLCP is continuing to fight in the first ranks of the class struggle and social struggle. From the workers' resistances to the barricades in the labourers' neighbourhoods; from the struggle against unemployment, poverty, non-free health service, retirement in the grave to the struggle for democratic rights and freedoms; from the protests raised by labouring women to the youth actions; from being a barricade and a fist against civil-fascist attacks to standing up against the state's terror; from the struggle for the national democratic demands of our Kurdish people to the actions against the dirty war; from standing shoulder-to-shoulder with the Iraqi and Palestinian people to different international struggles; our party's will, voice and power have shown themselves after September 8, 2006, too, and will continue to do so. The ruling forces of the exploitation system and fascist regime behind the indictment and their imperialist masters will continue to have nightmares about the MLCP. The laws of class struggle continue to function. The struggle goes on. The victory will be with those who raise the flag of freedom, justice and equality for the people. The working class and the oppressed will win. Long live the workers' and oppressed peoples' struggle for freedom! Long live the equality and brotherhood of the Turkish and Kurdish people! Down with the capitalist exploiters and the fascist tyrants! Down with imperialists! Long live the revolution! For the victory of the revolution, long live the MLCP! SEYFI POLAT June 5, 2008 *** 39* Struggle for Unity is the period of the struggle for the unification of four communist organisations in order to found the MLCP. 40* Ortaoyunu is the traditional street theatre of the period of the Ottoman Empire, where the main character is always in discussion with changing characters. 41* The changes in the Labour Law No.4857 in 2003 legalised the subcontracting system and flexible work as a part of the neoliberal attacks of the government. 42* General Health Insurance (GSS) is the neoliberal law adopted in 2008 opening the way for the privatisation of the health service. 43* The " Urban Transformation Project " of the AKP government includes the demolition of the houses of hundreds of thousands of labourers living in the big cities such as Istanbul, Ankara and Izmir for the share of rent and the sale of these areas to the big monopolies. 1 million 250 thousand people are directly effected by the project.
