On January 14, the young worker Hikmet Kaya became severely injured and was taken to hospital when an explosion took place in the balance tank due to a gas locking at Tuzla Sedef shipyard. Kaya lost his life on January 20 in hospital. By that, the number of work-related accidents resulting with the death of the workers increased to 118. In its written statement Limter-Is made on the last murder saying that the bosses tried to hide the death of Kaya from the public and repeated its demand for the foundation of an independent supervisory board.
