The DTP has protested the arrests with many actions saying that the oppression won't stop itself and that its march for freedom will continue. The actions were supported by first of all the ESP and many other political parties and organisations. {divide} DTP Diyarbakir deputy Akin Birdal showed his anger on the attacks saying: "Do they want to hide the effects and results of the economical crisis with the operations carried out against the Kurds and the socialists? Or do they want to prevent us from gathering at Taxim Square in 10 days? Whatever they want, we won't let them achieve their aim." Akin Birdal made a call to the intellectuals asking them to defend the DTP. This call was answered within short time by more than 100 intellectuals. Amed mayor Osman Baydemir said on the operations: "They can't scare us with death and prisons...The Kurdish people don't become assimilated even if 170 years will pass. It is in fact our demand for peace that has been arrested and faced operations." ESP made a call to defend the DTP The ESP organised actions and made statements to protest the police terror on the DTP. The ESP called on to show solidarity with the Kurdish people and to defend the DTP. In its statement made it says: "In the local elections on March 29 the Kurdish people declared the DTP to ve its political will especially in the Kurdish cities, the DTP became the only governing party in the region, and the ruling forces and AKP government did not like this fact. When did not want to accept the election results, they started to attack the DTP...This attack happening at a period, during which the economical crisis has increased and the just and democratic peace is as urgent as it has never been, this attack against the DTP is a warning to the workers, labourers and all progressive, revolutionary, Kurdish patriotic and democratic oppositional groups preparing themselves for Mayday. We call on the revolutionary and progressive forces and on the oppositional groups of the society to show solidarity with the Kurdish people, to defend the DTP that is its political representative and to raise the slogan of the brotherhood of the Turkish and Kurdish people."
