On April 27, the police in Istanbul raided more than 60 houses and work places and arrested many people in connection with an operation on the organisation Revolutionary Headquarters. Revolutionary Headquarters' member Orhan Yilmazkaya clashed with the police for 6 hours and fell after this resistance. The police had surrounded the building in which Yilmazkaya was in the Istanbul borough Bostanci, and during the clash with Yilmazkaya, a chief superintendent died and altogether 7 people were wounded. In the clash the police used gas bombs, and it was said that Yilmazkaya resisted with arms, too. During the clash, a young Kurdish boy was shot, too, however, it hasn't been figured out by whose bullets he was shot. After Yilmazkaya's body was carried out from the flat, an explosion took place nearly an hour later, and it was said that a bomb could have been placed there before which then exploded. {divide} During his resistance that lasted for 6 hours, Yilmazkaya could join the police' wireless network and said the following: "You superintendent, can you hear my voice? I am addressing the journalists listening to this channel. I will try to be worth the sacrificing revolutionary generation that hasn't surrendered. My name is Orhan Yilmazkaya. I am a militant of the Revolutionary Headquarters. I fight for the united struggle of the Turkish and Kurdish people. I fight for the united struggle of the workers and labourers. We fight against imperialism, fascism and Zionism. Long live the revolution and socialism. Long live the brotherhood of the people. Long live the united struggle of the Turkish and Kurdish people. We might fell but this struggle will definitely continue after our death." In its statement titled "Commander Orhan Yilmazkaya became a martyr. The revolution advances with the martyrs!", the Revolutionary Headquarters declared that Yilmazkaya was a member of the organisation's Central Commander Group. The statement focused on what Yilmazkaya said during his resistance: "The counterrevolution started with its total attack right after the elections. We knew it and expected it! The attach we expected came. However, it went beyond our preparations. It was a heavy attack. But it's no problem! Our comrade said everything necessary: the struggle will continue!!" The Revolutionary Headquarters ended its statement saying the following: "It should be known that our strength, resistance and revolutions are not only based on the brotherhood of the Turkish and Kurdish people, but on the blood brotherhood of the revolutions in Turkey and Kurdistan." The ESP made a written statement stressing that after the changes of the PVSK, the police terror has rapidly increased and demanded the conviction of the responsible forces that had killed Yilmazkaya. In the statement it was also said that the operations on different revolutionary and oppositional forces before Mayday are no coincidence and that workers and labourers as well as organisations saying that they will be at Taxim Square, Istanbul, on Mayday faced threats and oppression.
