On May 3, the DTP started a hunger strike under the slogan "Stop silencing the DTP, stop the arms, answer the period without clashes". The action lasted for two days protesting the oppression, operations and detention terror that recently increased on the DTP. The action organised at Kosuyolu Park, Amed, was joined by more than 15,000 DTP activists from different cities, including DTP deputies and mayors. The mass hanged up banners at Kosuyolu Park on which it said "Stop silencing the DTP, stop the arms, open the way for a dialogue" and "Amed is the symbol of peace as well as of resistance". {divide} The action was supported by KESK Branches' Platform and the Platform of Democracy Diyarbakir. With this action, the DTP demanded the release of its activists recently imprisoned and an end of the oppression on the party. DTG group leader assistant Selahattin Demirtas held a speech saying: "We expect from the state to correctly answer the message of peace given by our people, to correctly understand and play its part. If the government continues with this military policy and this policy based on denial and oppression, then we will have to fear and doubt that Turkey will live through more difficult days". The action was mainly supported by women and got the support from prisoners, too. While the women of the ESP imprisoned at the Karatas Female Prison, Adana who realised a two day hunger strike to show solidarity, democratic organisations in Mersin organised a common hunger strike, too.
