As a result of the house and office raids taking place on the morning of May 21 in Ankara, 14 members of the Socialist Youth Association had been arrested. The young students of ODTU , Bilkent and Hacettepe University were taken to the local gendarmerie headquarters. The young students were arrested because of their participation in the events of ODTU and the commemoration of Deniz Gezmis on May 6. The SGD F organised protest actions on the same evening in Ankara, Istanbul, Izmir, Canakkale, Mugla and Eskisehir condemning the arrests. At the actions, banners were opened read "The arrested shall immediately be released. The SGD won't remain silent" as well as slogans shouted such as "The SGD didn't and won't give up", "down with the NSC, MIT , JITEM and the counter guerrilla" and "A single fist, a single barricade against fascism" In the statements made it was said that it is the JITEM responsible for the arrest attacks and it was demanded to immediately release the arrested.
