Regardless of what will be discussed at the summit, the basic trend of the G8 summit will be the reinforcement of the measures in order to make the working class and the labourers pay for the current economic crisis. All the topics on the agenda from environmental problems to the hunger of Africa will just serve as a false show in order to hide the fact that capitalist barbarity is the source of these social problems in these days of the crisis, where the alternative of socialism begins to turn into a hope of the masses again.

The summit of the G8 states, whose meetings are always targeted by the anger of the anti-imperialist, revolutionary and communist forces and their actions lasting for days, will take place on July, 8-10 in Italy this year.
The G8 summit returns to Italy, which in 2001became the symbol of the movement against imperialist globalisation and the G8 protests by the resistance of Genoa. After the resistance of Genoa, during which Carlo Guilliani was assassinated by police bullets, the streets of Italy will again flame up with the G8 protests.
First, it was planned to hold the G8 summit of this year at the isle of Sardinia, but now the venue has changed into L'Aquila, where an earthquake in April this year caused the death of 295 people and made 60 thousand people homeless. Berlusconi said that the benefit from holding the summit there will be used for the victims of the earthquake; however by saying "the resisters of globalisation should think once more about organising demonstrations in a disaster area" he made clear his real intention to use the earthquake in order to defame the anti-imperialists protesting against G8.
The Italian state has shown that it did not forget the lesson it learnt in Genoa by starting with police attacks and operations already two month before the summit in July. The Italian state, which is the assassin of Carlo Guilliani and increased the detentions, imprisonments and bans during the last years, brutally attacked the students organising protests against G8 in May. In June, it imprisoned 6 Italian revolutionaries accused of preparing an armed action against the summit.
However, these preparations of the Italian state are not enough to silence the anti-imperialist forces being against G8. The anti-globalisation activists from all Europe are ready to make the streets of Italy unbearable for the G8 imperialists.
The 8 imperialist states forming the G8; Germany, France, USA, Japan, Canada, Italy, Great Britain and Russia are controlling more than half of the world trade and approximately 65 % of the gross world product. These states, who are trying to gain legitimacy for their meeting of plunderers by claiming to deal with numerous social problems like hunger, poverty and environmental problems, are producing 43 % of carbon dioxide, responsible for atmospheric pollution, directly in their own countries. The production of enterprises in other countries is not included in this number.
Only 4 of this 8 states being directly responsible for imperialist wars and occupations, plundering and destruction, namely the USA, Russia, France and England hold 96 to 99 % of the active nuclear weapons of the world, which means nearly all of them. 72% of the worldwide state budget for armament belongs to the G8 countries.
The yearly summits of these plundering and predatory states are of course not aiming at taking measures against the poverty of Africa, global warming or any kind of disasters caused by capitalism like they pretend but aiming at checking and persuading each other in order to dominate the world policy.
It seems that this year's agenda will be dominated by the economic crisis, the very first topic on the agenda of the capitalist world. Berlusconi, prime minister of Italy, this year's host of the summit, stated that "the formation of a new global governance model in order to stop the international finance crisis" will be discussed.
The imperialist forces still not agreed on how to intervene at the economic crisis, which pushes the capitalist states to put on their agenda state interference in economy and to save the banks and monopolies going bankrupt with emergency packets of billions of liras after the "golden years" when they had brought the end of history, hold the burial ceremony for socialism and declared that neo-liberalism is the solution for everything. This situation had also impact on the meeting of the Ministers of Finance of the G8 hold in June. Except undertaking the necessary measures to guarantee the situation of the big banks, no agreement on any topic was reflected in the statement adopted at the meeting. The summit in July will deal carefully with the economic crisis and will force first of all the European partners of the USA to intervene more effectively with state interference against the crisis, which is to say to plunder the workers and labourers more determinately and give the booty getting from that to the bankrupting monopolies.
With Obama becoming the new president, the US imperialism opened a "new page" in its world and country policy decorating their aggressive imperialist foreign policy with nice words like "peace and democracy among the cultures", trying to get out from the quagmire they stuck into in the Middle East by their new offensive in Afghanistan and Pakistan and trying at the same time to shape their economic policy according to the consequences of the crisis.
International imperialist forums and organisations like G8 are alliances, which contain the two dimensions of imperialist relations; the tendency of unity and the one of confrontation, whereas according to the peculiarities of the respective period, the one or the other tendency comes to the fore. Despite the fact that the countries forming the G8 meeting have the wish to take the others in tow in order to increase their world domination, the imperialist competition makes this impossible. Therefore, the G8 summits are meetings, where each imperialist state urges the others according to its own policy. However, what of the things discussed at these meetings will be carried out and what not is essentially determined by the concrete situation of the power relations among the imperialists.
In spite of the extraordinary security measure undertaken in the last 15 years for all kinds of such imperialist summits, the rage felt by the working class and the labourers against the devastation of the capitalist system is witnessed. Tens and hundreds of thousands labourers are expressing their longing for living in another world by besieging the venues of the summits.
This rage, that reached its peak at the actions in Genoa 8 years ago, again in Italy, shows the need for these forces struggling against imperialism to unite in lasting, constant and stable anti-imperialist organisations. These determinant and militant resistances, which do not shrink back from turning their own bodies into barricades against the repression measures of the gigantic imperialist war machines, will only and only become meaningful if they get over fixed dates like imperialist summits or meetings and enter into continuous coordination.
The ongoing economic crisis shows once more that the fight against imperialist plunder will be successful as far as it goes beyond the single consequences of imperialist plunder like unemployment, hunger, poverty and environmental destruction and directs itself against the imperialist capitalist system itself and unites the longing for "another world" with the prospect of socialism.
To support the protests against G8 is an important element of the struggle of all workers and labourers against imperialism and also the duty of the anti-imperialist, revolutionary and communist forces.

Let us grow the anti-imperialist struggle once more by making Italy unbearable for the G8 bandits!
Let us strengthen the solidarity with the revolutionaries imprisoned by the Italian state before the G8 summit in order to frighten those protesting against the summit!
Let us raise the determination to struggle handed over by the anti-imperialist activist Carlo Guilliani
8 years ago!
The only alternative of capitalism is socialism!
