33 people, who had lost their lives in a massacre supported by the state on July 2, 1993 at Madimak Hotel , Sivas, were commemorated on July 2 by ten thousands of people in different cities of Turkey and Northern Kurdistan.{divide} In Sivas nearly 20,000 gathered in front of the Sivas branch of the Haci Bektas Foundation at Seyrantepe and marched until Madimak Hotel. The protesters demanded "Madimak must become a museum of shame". The mass also protested the existence of a kebab shop at the entrance of the hotel. Besides the Pir Sultan Abdal Cultural Association and the Alevi Bektasi Federation, many local Alevi organisations from different cities joined the action with their banners. Together with the Alevi organisations; unions, professional associations as well as revolutionary and democratic organisations and platforms such as Halkevleri , DTP and ESP joined the action, too. The mass carried posters saying "The murderers will render an account to the people" and "Sivas will become a city of brotherhood" and shouted the slogan "An account will be demanded for the massacre of Sivas". The general president of the Alevi Bektasi Federation emphasized in a speech that the massacre at Madimak Hotel is in fact a massacre by the state. In Malatya, a march was organised by PSAKD, and supported by Partizan, DTP, ESP, IHD and unions affiliated to KESK . At the action posters were carried saying "The massacres of Corum , Sivas, Malatya and Maras haven't been forgotten." The Revolutionary Alevi Committee in Adana made an action saying: "Those who had burned the Alevi alive on July 2 in Sivas are the ones who burned the revolutionary prisoners in the prisons alive on December 19 , 2000 ." In Istanbul nearly 7,000 people gathered and marched until Kadikoy Iskele Square. Besides Alevi organisations such as PSKAD and the Alevi Bektasi Federation, the action was joined by KESK, Limter-Is , DISK , TTB , TMMOB and Halkevleri, SDP , ESP as well as many other democratic mass organsiations. The mass shouted its demands "We won't become the Alevi the state wants us to become and "Madimak Hotel will become a museum". Our party MLCP participated in the march shouting slogans. Our party's forces shouted the slogans "We will demand an account for Sivas" and "The murderer of the massacre of Sivas is the state itself" and made speeches in which they exposed the counter guerrilla state. In a speech held in the name of the Organisation Committee, the following was said: "What was wanted to be killed at Madimak Hotel was the revolutionary, democratic intellectual consciousness of this country". 5,000 people gathering at Ankara shouted slogans such as "We will demand an account for the massacres in Sivas, Maras, Corum and Gazi " and "The only way against fascism is revolution". In Izmir 5,000 people gathered and demanded the abolition of religion as an obligatory lesson in school and Madimak Hotel to become a museum. In a speech made in the name of PSAKD the demand was emphasized that not only Madimak Hotel must become a museum but that memorials should be made for Mahir Cayan , Deniz Gezmis and Mazlum Dogan. Actions were also realised in Amed, Dersim, Antep, Antakya, Antalya, Bursa and Hopa. The masses demanded the conviction of the counter guerrilla agents and state authorities responsible for the massacre of Sivas.
