The employees of the radio channels Demokrat Radio and Ozgur Radio arrested and imprisoned since February 2009 were taken to court for the first time on August 27. The trial, with which altogether 8 people are being charged, 3 of them imprisoned, took place at the 9th Heavy Penalty Court in Istanbul. The court decided to temporarily release 2 of the 3 imprisoned and to merge the file of Demokrat Radio Press Coordinator Nadiye Gurbuz with the file of the socialists who had been imprisoned during the raids on socialist organisations, radio channels, newspaper offices, associations and unions on September 21, 2006 and whose trial is still continuing. The court also decided that Gurbuz must stay behind bars.
