The protests against the meeting of the IMF and World Bank, which will take place from October 6-7 in Istanbul, are growing.{divide}
The socialists are trying to organize the protest by carrying out agitation work in the labouring districts. Opening tends in the workers districts and industrial areas, the socialists are calling upon the workers and labourers to take to the streets protesting the meeting, which will take place in Istanbul. Furthermore, some socialists chained themselves in front of the Istanbul Congress Centre, where the meeting is going to held, an opened a banner saying "Down with the IMF/No Pasaran". After having shouted slogans like "We will corner the IMF in Istanbul" the police attacked and detained 4 revolutionaries. Following a statement of the governor of Istanbul, 10 thousand persons will participate in the meeting and 21 thousand police agents, 10 thousand of them uniformed, will be present.
The socialists also called upon the workers and labourers to participate in the Socialist Economy Congress, which will be organized by the Academy of Marxist Sciences Nazim Hikmet on October 3.
