Docker Metin Inanir lost his life and docker Ramazan Kocetepe was seriously injured at the so-called labour "accident" at the dockyard Selahattin Arslan in the dockyards' zone of Tuzla while they were pulling skid. Thus the number of the dockers who lost their lives due to labour "accidents" has risen to 134. {divide}
The Limter-Is made a statement informing that 15 workers were called to pull the skid since the crane was not strong enough and naturally the boom of the crane was broken. The Limter-Is stated that the workers were used instead of a crane at this incident. The dockyard bosses had taken some safety measures before in face of the increasing protests but they had cancelled all in the period of economic crisis. The union has also informed that the number of the workers in Tuzla dockyards' zone has decreased from 50 thousand to 7 thousand due to layoffs.
