Due to attacks in Mugla realised by civil-fascist forces supported by the state, dozens of Kurdish youth were injured and dozens imprisoned in May, 2010. As a result of the attack, the Kurdish youth Serzan Kurt from Batman was heavily wounded through a police bullet and lost his life on May 24 in hospital.{divide} The first hearing in the trial was scheduled for August 10, however it turned out that the hearing took place already on August 9 in a secret way without even the lawyers being informed about it. It was expected, that on this first hearing against the police agent who killed Kurt, it would be announced that the trial on the death of Şerzan Kurt will be transferred from Mugla to Eskişehir because of "lack of staff members". The official reason given is that security won't be guaranteed as Muğla is a tourist region and security staffs are on duty in coastal regions. The court approved the demand of the governorship of Mugla and transferred the trial to Eskisehir, where the next hearing will take place. However, this decision was taken by the court one day before the date fixed and without informing neither the lawyers nor the family of Serzan Kurt. In the early morning of August 10, masses of people coming from Izmir, Aydin, Denizli and Bodrum gathered in front of the court building. On their way there, almost every few 100 metres they have been stopped for identity checks by the police. When it turned out that the hearing took place already the day before, the lawyers protested demanding that the hearing will take place, however their demand was rejected. The lawyers said that the trial is being kept out of the public opinion.
