The bridge built in 1969 by Deniz Gezmis and his friends will be rebuilt by young revolutionaries.{divide} In 1968, Deniz Gezmis and his friends opposed the discussions about constructing the Bosporus Bridge of Istanbul saying "Not at the Bosporus, a bridge for the river Zap" and resulting from the campaign carried out in 1969 they built "the Bridge of the Youth" across the river Zap. In 1999, the bridge, located 35 kilometres away from the City Hakkari linking tens of villages, was destroyed by bombings of the State. Together with the Platform of Branches of KESK in Hakkari and the municipality of the BDP , many organisations support the reconstruction of the bridge. The writer Cezmi Ersoz, who significantly supports the project, said that the bridge creates the enthusiasm of brotherhood. He added "This Bridge was built in 1969. It served the people for 30 years. Unfortunately, it was bombed in 1999. It was the first bridge crossing the river Zap. It was a bridge of peace, of brotherhood. It has a special meaning to reconstruct in these days, in which we need peace so much." The spokesman of the Platform of Branches of KESK in Hakkari, Cahit Balikesir stated that this bridge is of a special value for the people of Hakkari, that it is an example for the revolutionary struggle carried out by Deniz Gezmis and his friends saying "everybody, from 7 to 70, from the villages and from the city wants to give life again to the memory of Deniz and his friends. This is the spirit. The revolutionary struggle of them is reflected by the people of Hakkari. Everybody wanted the bridge to be reconstructed anyway, thus the demand to do it became concrete. There are the revolutionary longings of the people, their wish for brotherhood. It is planned that the bridge, which will have the name "Bridge of the Youth and Brotherhood", will be ready and opened on October 3-4, 2010.
