The Southern Kurdistan youth have organised massive human shield actions against the military attacks of the Turkish colonialist state on Media Defence Zone in Federal Kurdistan Region. "Patriotic Youth Movement of the Federal Kurdistan Region" announced that human shields from Hewler (Arbil) would march towards Xakurke zone, human shields from Sulaymaniyah and Germiyan would march towards Mount Qandil and those coming from Behdinan would march towards the Zap region. {divide}
On August 24, hundreds of human shields reached the bombed villages around Mount Qandil.
Human shields from Sulaymaniyah started on August 23 in the morning and those from Dohuk in the evening.
On August 22, thousands of human shields reached Ranya where they visited the relatives of the 7 civilians killed in the bombings of the Turkish colonialist fascism. After this visit, they continued towards mount Qandil. Turkish warplanes tried to intimidate the people by low altitude flights. After that, the police forces of the Federal Government stopped the human shields.
Human shields from Sulaymaniyah were also stopped by the police in Sengeser on August 26 after a three-day-march and started a hunger strike there. They were attacked, beaten and arrested by the Federal Kurdistan Police in collaboration with Turkey. They were brought back in Sulaymaniyah and set free near there.
Finally different groups of the human shields overpassed the hinderings. One of the groups reached the guerrilla forces in Xakurke zone.
