Approximately 5 thousand people have been sent to prison during the police operations and imprisonments starting from April 14, 2009, with the aim of liquidating the legal organisations of the Kurdish national movement. 4 thousand 547 people have been arrested and 1838 have been sent to prison only in the last 7 months. This number includes 13 elected mayors, 5 Executive Committeee Members, 12 General Assembly Members and 28 provincial leaders of BDP . {divide} According to the reports of the democratic mas organisations and the press, the daily average of the number of the arrested is 9 and 5 out of each 9 have been sent to prison.
