The death penalty against the Kurdish women activist Zeyneb Celaliyan, who was imprisoned in 2008 in Iran being accused of PJAK -membership and sentenced to death in a seven-minutes-lasting trial on January 14, 2009 without presence of a lawyer, has been quashed. Her lawyer Dr. Mihemed Serif announced, that the death penalty has been changed into a prison penalty and that she is imprisoned in the central prison of Kirmasan.{divide} Since 2007, 10 political Kurdish prisoners have been executed by the reactionary Iranian regime. The last case was the execution of Eziz Xakzad on October 4. The 29 years old prisoner was executed secretly despite the fact that his penalty had been reduced to 5 years of prison and without knowledge of his lawyer and family. 17 political Kurdish prisoners are still under the threat of execution in the prisons of Iran.
