According to the data announced by the Statistical Institute of Turkey (TUIK), the number of the workers who lost their jobs was 445 thousand during the months of September, October and December 2011. The rate of the informal sector workers is 41.8 %. According to the data of TUIK, which does not include the great amount of the informal and flexible workers and those who do not seek for a job for having lost his/her hope in that to its data, the total number of the unemployed is 2 million and 454 thousands.
