According to the report of the Assembly of Workers Health and Work Security Istanbul, at least 62 workers lost their live in January 2012; two of them children and 3 women. {divide} Among the workers who lost their live at work are 15 construction workers and 8 more workers, who lost their life due to accidents when being taken to work by private service buses in Balikesir and Konya. The organisation of Social Insurance stated in its official report that the number of death due to work accidents and work-related diseases is increasing: Meanwhile in 2009 1171 people died due to accidents at work, this number increased in 22, 5% to 1434 in 2010. Furthermore, in 2009 no case of death because of work-related diseases was recorded, in 2010 it was already 10 cases. This is of course official data, which does not include for example the huge sector of unorganized work; the real number is much higher.
