The Prime Minister TayyipErdogan was supposed to be nominated forSteigerAwards in Germany this year for his so-called "contributions to the democratisation in Turkey". Despite that Erdogan announced that he would not attend to the ceremony that was held in Bochum, 20 thousand people gathered at the action organised by the Federation of the Alevis' Associations in Germany (AABF) and 1500 more at the action organised by the European federation of the Kurdishassociations YEK-KOM to protest Erdogan and the decision Germany. {divide}
The Alevis marched under the slogans "We will ask account for the Sivas Massacre " and "We will never forget nor forgive the Sivas Massacre", since the criminals of the massacre were protected by the state by being recently set free due to the "lapse of time".
At the action of YEK-KOM, the main slogan was "Sivas Massacre - Gazi Massacre - Roboski Massacre. We will ask account!"
The activists and supporters of our party MLCP and youth organisation KGO as well as many other organisations from Turkey and Northern Kurdistan participated at the actions, too.
Germany had changed its first argument about "contributions to the democratisation in Turkey" and had told that the award would be given because of the "50th year of the economical agreements and for the contribution of the Turkish immigrants to German economy", and finally, following Erdogan's statement that he would not participate at the ceremony, Germany withdrew the award for him, though it did not withdraw the award of Lou Reed who neither would come.
